On Friday 31st of May 2013 from 9:00 – 17:10 the students of the University of Groningen’s Classical Medieval and Renaissance Studies Research Master will be holding the annual CMRS congress. The theme of this year’s congress will be ‘Meet & Greet: Cultural Encounters in the Premodern Period.’ Throughout the day twelve students will present their individual research on a variety of subjects from the premodern era. A wide range of cultural encounters will be explored from cross-cultural contact between nations and different racial groups to the interaction between subcultures and wider society. NB: Some of the afternoon sessions are being given by former students of English (papers on Chaucer and Shakespeare) so you may find them interesting. If you are interested in the possibility of studying in the CMRS Research Masters degree, attending this study day should give you a flavour of what’s involved.
